Second possibility, the competition B recruiting after 2 or 3 years of license Life Sciences, Earth, Matter. It is also possible to pass after a professional license in one of these areas. C The contest is accessible after a technological university studies specializing in Chemistry, the Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering – Process Engineering and Health, Safety and Environment. D The contest is for holders of a doctorate in medicine, pharmacy or dentistry and outgoing students of Biology Master. Selective entry into these schools requires a very good grade.
A contest has two options: "general" (BCPST) and "biology-technology" (TB). The General option concerns the program of veterinary preparatory classes designed for bachelors S. It offers 109 seats per school is 436 in total. The technology-biology option has a limited number of places per school: 2 students are accepted following the contest in each institution. It is designed for students of preparatory classes holding a tray STL (specialized in biochemistry or bioengineering) or STAV tray. Veterinary preparatory classes so prepare in one year the contest A. This is actually considered as the royal road to enter veterinary school, and the majority of students are choosing to go through it. Veterinary prep training mainly involves biology, physics, chemistry and mathematics: four core subjects for the contest. In this science education, are added the French, philosophy and foreign language.
This contest is open to licensed 2 and 3 in Science and Technology, Life Sciences mention. Some universities set up preparatory licenses 2. You can find in the following institutions: Paris VI, Paris VII, Paris Sud Orsay, Montpellier, etc. But beware, the access is not easy. In all, around twenty applicants are accepted by promotion. As for the competition, the candidate spends three written tests (French, chemistry, biology) and two other orally (probability, statistics, mathematics and foreign language). Limited places available is 11 per school, 44 in total.
It concerns all BTSA, holders of Higher National Diploma from the sea (issued by the National Institute of Ocean techniques of the National Centre of Arts and Crafts) certain BTS (option Agricultural Equipment – medical biology analyzes – Bio -Analyses and controls – Biotechnology – Chemist – Design and implementation of automated systems – industrial control and automatic regulation – Diététique- environmental cleanliness Hygiene – cereal Industries – Computers and networks for industry and technical services – industrial maintenance – Trades of water – quality in the food and bio-industries – physical Techniques for industry and laboratory) and DUT (biological engineering – conditioning engineering and packaging – Chemistry – chemical-engineering process engineering – thermal engineering and energy – logistics and transportation – Health, safety, environment – physical measurements – Quality, industrial logistics and organization – Science and materials engineering). It includes five written tests: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, French-speaking and two oral exams (biology and foreign language) and ends with an interview. The number of places, which varies depending on the years, is 56 which is equivalent to 14 places per school.
A first file selection is performed and based on the motivation of the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The eligibility test is oral. You have 20 minutes to explain your motivation and your career plan. The number of places after the contest is limited to 4.

There are four national veterinary schools whose assignment is done according to the ranking obtained in the competition as well as the preferences of candidates. While teaching varies depending on schools, the core remains substantially the same.
• There first four years of basic training. Students learn the theory as well as practice alongside professionals. The lecture is based classroom and clinic. An internship is mandatory in the curriculum and some schools require it to be made abroad. Fluency in an additional language is not to be overlooked. The Fundamental Studies Diploma Veterinarians (DEFV) is issued at the end of these four years of learning.
• Veterinary schools offer a fifth year called for "deepening". This past year allows students to specialize in an area such as pets, production animals or horses. It is also possible to continue research training. The validation of this 5th year offers the opportunity to prepare a veterinary doctorate thesis. The State Veterinary Doctor degree is then awarded to students after their defense.
