For the study materials in geography, it is necessary to focus your analysis on the economic, sociological and demographic data provided by the documents. In this form of exercise, you are faced with a series of documents (1 to 5). It can be text or maps, images or graphics, charts or statistics.
Faced with these documents varied in nature, you need to be at any point able to go to the essential, to avoid paraphrase. If the documents are full of multiple information, remember that you are also judged on your ability to know how to select the essential data, the most significant.
Once you have identified the essential information you need to organize, classify them by topics, areas of interest and importance to reintegrate them into a synthesis in which, of course, your own knowledge have a very important role. Clearly, you need to classify documents by conducting a thematic selection to facilitate critical analysis.
If you stick to only the information contained in the documents, you may, by mistake or staying too close rightly said documents from falling into paraphrase mistake that can cost you. The work must begin with a correct reading of documents identifying their title. We must also question their origin, their reliability and purpose.
You must be able to identify the problem, the main question to which you will try to answer, while showing interest documents: what do they to find some answers to the question?
In fact it all comes down to three core values: observe, observe, explain. You must study the documents obeying specific instructions. The copy that you will make must have three parts-a presentation and analysis of documents, followed by a synthesis -For demonstrate that you have mastered the subject.
I – Presentation of documents
According to the official program, this exercise is intended to "test the ability to memorize and reproduce knowledge and understand a major theme of the program." We must therefore identify the title (each document is always presented with a title, which is not to be overlooked), the date, the nature of the document.
If there is a table, you have to study how it works: lines into information, information into columns, existence of gross or percentage, etc. This so-called observation stage should help you to understand the operation of the board and to retain the general theme to be able to replace it in the general study which should cover all documents.
You must indicate the nature of the document, creation date, author, source, and the space to which it relates and the main theme Avoid too lengthy and stick to relevant elements to meet your need without intruding on the actual comment.
