This year, the Times Higher Education published its ranking of the top universities around the world: the World Reputation Ranking 2016, based on the reputation of the institutions with faculty.
After a US-British podium in 2015, America is this time only leading with Harvard, followed by MIT and Stanford.
Since 2011, the Times Higher Education ranks world universities based on their reputation. To perform this ranking, 10,323 people from 133 different countries have responded to a survey from January 2016 to March 2016: the Academic Reputation Survey. The United States, winners
With 43 universities in the top 100, including 13 in the top 20, the United States dominate again this ranking. The largest US universities such as Princeton (7th) and Yale (8th) are represented. A leading position in the unbeatable Harvard image first in this ranking since 2011. Only the United Kingdom, Japan, Switzerland and China are added to the top 20. The UK has left the second and third places – occupied by Cambridge and Oxford in 2015 – at two US universities.
Since 2015, France has five sites, all present in the second half of the ranking. The Ecole Normale Supérieure, head of the French charts, is in the 61-70 range. University Pierre and Marie Curie then arrives in the 81-90 bracket. The laggard was held by Polytechnique, Insead and the University of Panthéon-Sorbonne, all three in the 91-100 range. With these five universities, France is off the podium countries, behind the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany.
Tsinghua University (18th) came this year for the first time in the top 20 of the ranking by winning 8 seats compared to 2015. It is closely followed by Peking University, after a great recovery of 11 places to lie now in 21st position. In total, China has five universities in this ranking.
